Riedel Amadeo Decanter

The Riedel Amadeo Decanter (1756/13) is a decanter shaped like a lyre, created in 2006 to mark Riedel's 250th anniversary. That year was also the 250th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the design is Riedel's tribute to the composer. Its flowing curves and balanced proportions make it a centerpiece on the table as well as a working tool for serving wine.

To use it, pour a full 750 ml bottle in slowly and let the wine rest before serving. Riedel designed Amadeo for both young and older wines: a young wine gains air contact as it fills the curved body, and an older wine can be poured off its sediment. The shape is also designed for smooth, controlled pouring at the table.

Each piece is mouth-blown from crystal glass by Riedel's master glassblowers in its European workshops. Because the shape is formed by hand, no two decanters are exactly alike, and small variations in size, tiny bubbles or slight surface marks are a normal part of the process rather than defects. The decanter arrives in a RIEDEL-branded gift box.

Care: Hand wash only; this decanter is not dishwasher safe. Rinse it with clear water right after use, and do not use RIEDEL Bottle Cleaner or other cleaning beads, since Riedel notes the beads can become lodged and difficult to remove.
